GPS Applications - The department has unique expertise in Satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS). In this area we support a number of such initiatives such as the Federal Aviation Administration Wide Area Augmentation System, NASA's Global Differential GPS Network, and the NASA Global GPS Network. In these projects we provide end-to-end support from systems and software engineering to analysis and operations.
Navigation & Mission Design - The department is highly skilled in navigation and mission design. In navigation these skills include the production of precise orbit determination (LASER-, GPS- and deep-space radiometric-measurements), as well as related ephemeredes products and ground track monitoring. In mission design these skills include end-to-end mission design-orbit injection, maneuver design, and orbital decay analysis. The earth-bound and interplanetary missions we've supported include:
- Topex/Poseidon,
- Jason 1,
- Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission,
- Image,
- Orbit Carbon Observatory,
- CloudSat,
- Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer,
- Ulysses,
- Spitzer Space Telescope,
- Mars Global Surveyor,
- Mars Odyssey,
- Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter,
- Dawn,
- Phoenix Mars Scout, and
- Aquarius.
Software Engineering - This department supports the design and development of a number of navigation, scientific, and defense-related software development projects. Among these projects are the following NASA/JPL projects:
- Next generation of interplanetary navigational software (MONTE),
- Vehicle Breakup Analysis Software,
- Solar Sail Mission Design Tool, and
- GENESIS (Global Environmental & Earth Science Information System).
