About IT Infrastructure About IT Infrastructure
Raytheon Pasadena provides reliable and secure computing environments for several science and engineering activities at JPL. This is accomplished by taking a coordinated process-oriented approach to the design, deployment, and administration of UNIX based computing systems. This approach allows us to provide the right combination of skills while managing costs, insuring that each customer receives securely configured, reliable systems geared to technical and budgetary requirements of each organization.

Our core IT strength is our ability to understand our customers' business requirements, providing vision and technical expertise to assist in translating those requirements into practical architectures, implementing appropriate processes and technologies and providing long term support services to ensure customer success.

IT Vision
Our vision is to support our customers in establishing an IT Service organization that is integral to the success of current and future missions. To successfully accomplish this vision, we deliver two essential services:

  • Provide an IT organization and an infrastructure that quickly adapts to support the changing needs of projects.
  • Provide a management framework that enables rapid development and deployment of new technology, processes and services.

Core Principles
In meeting this vision we suggest the following core principles as the foundation for services

  • Favor solutions that provide flexibility and adaptability.
  • Focus on business need - the IT infrastructure investment decisions need to balance the drive for new technology against total cost of ownership and the true business need.
  • Increase interoperability - calls for the design of applications and infrastructure that meet the needs of the extended campus and mobile workforce.
  • Employ solid engineering processes in the selection and implementation of new technology.
